black
teas
Black teas come from the Camellia sinensis plant,
as do green teas. The difference is that black teas are fermented becoming oxidized,
whereas green teas are air or steam dried. Most black teas are produced in India
and Sri Lanka.
Black teas usually have a more intense flavour
than green teas and are often served with milk and sugar.
Black
teas have health benefits. Research indicates that compounds found in black tea
may stabilize cholesterol levels and promote cardiovascular health.
Black
tea contains caffeine, but less than the amount found in coffee.
We
stock a number of black teas, flavoured black teas, and blends of green and black
teas.
