Rooibos is made from leaves of the Aspalathus linearis, a plant native to South Africa. Its colour ranges from deep green to mahogany red.

Rooibos has a sweet taste. It is naturally caffeine free and low in tannin.

Rooibos contains minerals that contribute to good health: copper, iron, potassium, calcium fluoride, zinc manganese, and magnesium. Rooibos has been used to treat insomnia, irritability, headaches, nervous tension, high blood pressure, stomach cramps, colic in babies, hay fever, asthma and eczema.
